Subject: WA Good Sam Director Message

Hello Members – Some of you have snow outside already, some are hoping for a white Christmas while others want nothing to do with the white stuff. Whatever you are experiencing, have a safe and wonderful Holiday.

The registration for the Lynden Good Sam Rally in May has been posted on the website. We will soon have the June, Moses Lake Good Sam Rally registration ready. We sincerely hope your chapter puts these dates on your yearly schedule. We would really like to see more members come to all three rallies. Even if your Chapter chooses not to attend, individual members can still come and enjoy all the activities we have planned. Our State Team puts a lot of effort in the Rallies so that all members can enjoy themselves. Please come.

The three 2022 Rallies are:
Lynden             May 6-8, 2022
Moses Lake     June 2-5, 2022
Cashmere        September 16-18, 2022
(Dates do not include early days)

Also I have signed the contracts with Lynden for 2022, 2023, 2024. Moses Lake has our contract dates for 2022, 2023. Cashmere has our dates reserved as always for the weekend after the County Fair in September.

We had our bimonthly Zoom meeting this past week with Good Sam National Headquarters with Tamara Ward, COO, since Mr. Lemonis was in another meeting. Zoom meeting notes taken from headquarters, Bowling Green, KY, are printed below.

We also talked about the fundraiser, Good Sam watches. We still have some watches if you are interested. We are offering the watches to members for a donation price of $20.00 each. We keep the donated proceeds for our WA State Good Sam organization. This is another way to earn money for our state organization to use for Rally entertainment, door prizes or where ever needed. So if you would like to donate $20 to our State Good Sam Organization and receive a watch, please let me know.

We hope this monthly message finds you healthy and safe. Have a wonderful Holiday season.

Dave & Dee Cluett
WA State Good Sam Director

Open Discussion
(Comments in red font are by Dave Cluett, WA State GS Director)

• How do we attract the younger demographic to join Chapters?
▪ Suggestion: Corporate to provide Directors with members mailing lists
          - Due to privacy laws, we are unable to do this.
▪ Idea: More advertising within our emails, print ads and in-store.
(I have asked if they could make a generic flyer about State Good Sam Clubs and their Chapters and place them in store just like all of their flyers they display.)

▪ Print Advertising Response: Organization invested a significant amount of dollars into national print advertising in 2021, Chapters have had minimal response. (this refers to the single page State directors information in their magazines and directory of RV Parks)

Moving forward, we are looking to add an events banner to select retail emails that will take individuals to our Events landing page. In order for this to occur, we need information about events from the State Directors for content. (I Have already sent in the required rally information. The events page will be updated sometime in January??)

- Other comments from the Directors:
▪ Younger members want physical type activities while camping.
▪ Current Chapter members do not want many physical activities. They want to focus on visiting with each other and the camaraderie. (this information was obtained through all the Directors input in the Zoom meetings.) Therefore, a disconnect with the younger RVers.

▪ RV’ers are organically coming together via digital and social means based on types of activities. The RV is not their activity but a means for food/sleeping accommodations giving the younger generation time to enjoy other activities.

• Camping World retail store participation at rallies – unable to support at this time due to COVID, limited staffing and we are only participating in a handful of off-site RV shows moving forward that were previously contracted.

As your state director I am still pushing Good Sam Support to modify their website to make it easier to find more information about the State Good Sam Clubs and their Chapters.
